Are you ready to rock with the Alphabet Rockers?Alphabet Rockers is a fresh and funky family music group from San Francisco. What are they all about? Alphabet Rockers mixes together hip hop, beatboxing, soul music, imagination and dance for an interactive show, with the foundation of learning concepts from the K-2 curriculum. Featuring Kaitlin McGaw, Tommy Shepherd, and Stefanie Liang, the group has a sound and personality that draws in families and kids of all backgrounds. Childhood friends Kaitlin and Stefanie met Tommy through a love of music and hip hop in San Francisco, and the trio came together to make a high energy show that features cool dance moves, stomp-like choreography, and the appreciation that each of us is our own rockstar. Meet the stars of the show: Kaitlin McGaw Tommy Shepherd Stefanie Liang And get ready to rock with the Alphabet Rockers! School Time Music founded Alphabet Rockers to create high-quality, cutting-edge music for a shared learning entertainment experience for kids, family, and teachers. The company was foudned by Kaitlin McGaw (singer/songwriter) and Dawn Richardson (4 Non Blondes drummer/author/music teacher). With a sound and lyric unlike other kids' music, Alphabet Rockers appeals to preschoolers-second graders with its high-energy, and surprises and engages parents by how cool and unconventional the songs are. The debut release received multiple awards (Parents' Choice, National Parenting Publications, Education.com) and has been applauded nationally by parents, teachers and music critics. Now run by Kaitlin McGaw, the company partners with family and teacher advisors to create high quality edutainment. | ||||||||

| KAITLIN MCGAW founded Alphabet Rockers in 2007 and loves singing and hunting for shapes with families around the country. (Her favorite shape is the circle, of course.) Before she was an expert at the Countdown Boogiedown dance, she graduated from Harvard University in Afro-American Studies and traveled to South Africa on multiple trips studying writers and poets from the region. Kaitlin grew up in the Boston area, where she sang in theaters and was recognized by Harvard and the City of Boston for her work in intercultural learning, including developing curriculum for early education programs. When she's not busy playing with Alphabet Rockers, she's found behind the piano with her band in San Francisco, or at the ice hockey rink playing her favorite sport. She is a co-founder of the Bay Area Family Music collective "Let's Play" and is active in teaching at kindergarten conferences on how to incorporate music into the curriculum. Say hello to Kaitlin here! |

| STEFANIE LIANG has been performing with Alphabet Rockers since 2008, and has been friends with Kaitlin since high school. When she's not busy beatboxing and representing the Letter S, Stefanie is a freelance graphic designer, crafter, event producer, and art director. Stefanie left her hometown Boston to study Cultural Anthropology and Graphic Design at the University of Michigan, where she performed with a multicultural a cappella group, an interactive theatre troupe and the university children's theatre. Since moving to the Bay Area, she has taught art and design to elementary school kids, facilitated discussions and exercises for high school youth at a social justice leadership camp, and developed craft activities for families. Offstage, Stefanie designs magazine layouts, children's books and Alphabet Rockers t-shirts. Her favorite shape? The Circle. Tell her what you are making here. |
